《I Believe I Can Fly》是R·凯利于1996年为由迈克尔·乔丹主演的电影《空中大灌篮》而创作的插曲 。一次R·凯利在篮球场上遇到了迈克尔·乔丹。乔丹询问他，能否为一部由他本人出演的电影创作一首歌曲。在未了解电影内容的情况下，凯利答应了乔丹的请求。之后二人一道观看了电影，这使凯利想到了“我相信我能飞”这个标题。而歌曲的旋律是凯利在酒店熟睡之时“梦见的”。在大堂的钢琴前坐了两小时后，他即兴唱出了“我相信我能飞，我相信我能触摸到天空”这几句。
